Hello all. I have been lurking for a while and was really intreged by the idea and your finds so I decided to give it a try. Being low on cash I opted for pennies and headed to the bank. I felt a little aspitious walking out with 100 rolls of pennies but thrilled by what I may find. I took me awhile to get through them because I was trying to fill some holes in my penny book but here are my totals

9 - wheaties
1 - 1918
1 - 1942D
1 - 1944
1 - 1945
1 - 1946
1 - 1952D
1 - 1955
1 - 1955D
1 - 1956D

8 - Canadian pennies
1 - 1962
1 - 1968
1 - 1974
2 - 1975
1 - 1988
1 - 1998
1 - 1999

Are these totals consistant with what you are finding? Thanks for looking and also for all the information I have gleaned by reading your post.

Nice finds. Also check those wheats for doubling and repunched mint marks. Happy hunting

My bank uses a coin counter for accepting coins and they have been kind enough to sell me the bags of cents. Over the past 2.5 years I have pulled in excess of 10,000 wheat cents and 47 indian head cents from those bags. I typically average about 10-15 wheats per bag although I have had a couple of times when I've gotten more than 500 in a bag. The indians are usually just one or two per bag, but once I did get 10 of them. Hadn't had one in a while until this week when I got a 1900 out of a bag.

I've managed to put together a set of Lincoln's missing only 7 coins (the keys of course), and a set of canadian small cents that is complete from 1939. Lot's of fun and the tellers now check their drawers for odd stuff and save it for me. They also have referred other customers to me that have asked about getting rid of old coins so all in all it's been good.

Also, in the newer stuff, I've found several blank planchets, a 1972 Double Die Obverse, the 1999 & 2000 Wide AM varieties and several repunched mint marks.
