I was able to get to 2 different beaches on my days off. Sunday: My wife spent a couple hours with her best friend. The weather was perfect so I figured I'd take my 5-year-old daughter on her first treasure hunt. Scanned the sand for about 2 minutes before I got my first beep. So after I showed her where to scoop, my rookie digger recovered her first penny. She was ECSTATIC! About 2 minutes later, another beep. She dug right in and she recovered her first...............bottle cap. She was just as excited about the bottlecap as she was the penny. We searched for another 5 minutes or so and then my daughter spotted a couple of kids playing on a large mound of sand. Oh well, I got her to try it for 10 minutes anyway. She played for a little while and we left with her first penny and first bottle cap destined to be framed. Monday: I dropped my daughter off for school and had a few errands to run in the morning. On the way down to the beach, I stopped at a vacant lot. I hunted for about an hour. A few pennies and some trash, nothing special. On to the beach! Got to the beach just before 2p.m. Trying to find a place a park was fun. You gotta love spring break! My normal spot was taken but was lucky enough to have an old timer tell me I can park in front his house. I thanked him and beat feet to the beach. I spent about 4 hours on the beach and found $3.52: 10q, 6d, 4n, 22p. Not exactly stellar finds, but the scenery more than made up for it. No pics. Speaking of pics, I had a woman ask if her friend could use my detector as a prop for a vacation photo. That was a first for me. I let them and had a good laugh about it. I had another couple speaking broken English ask me if I was looking for bombs. Nope, no bombs, no jewelry either. Maybe next time. The jewelry, I mean. ;D

"Looking for bombs"

Happened to me once while detecting a park in DC. A very concerned lady with a British accent asked me if what I was doing was dangerous. LOL

Sounds like you had a great time...especially being able to take your daughter out! Next time take pics for all of us poor folks who still have snow!

Taking the kids detecting is a treasure in it self. We are lucky in not having to dig up 50 cal. spent rounds or bombs on our beaches along with the pull tabs. The scenery has got to be nice on those beaches.

We gotta have more pictures...............
