As my season nears an end due to cold weather here in Wisconsin, today I bundled up and got out, found my first 2 cent coin, so happy with it. Sometimes over winter I miss metal detecting so much I feel like digging up my basement floor and start searching. Thanks to this website I can live thru you lucky folks that get to search year round.

I agree with you there. I went out a couple times last winter to try chopping holes in the frozen ground. It always keeps me looking forward to the spring thaw.

Great finds!! Your summers there are so much better for digging though! Except for the bugs. 😄

That's a nice looking coin. Where in Wisconsin did you find that?

Nice coin! Not as common a date to find either. You must have some mild soil and no fertilizer.

Thanks for the replies, went back to the site today and found another 1865 2 cent this time. Not as nice condition, strange they were only about 50 feet apart, wonder what causes condition changes? I feel lucky to find these coins in western Wisconsin. Also found this button says ____bury on the back. Is this military? Thanks for any info.

Awesome finds, demano. I’ve never found a two-cent coin! But I’m gonna keep looking.

Great job knocking the 2-center off the bucket list! Then to find another right after- awesome, especially since neither was the common 1864. Your first is a date we typically don't see posted (been at this 31+ years and found 22 of them, never an 1868!), and in amazing shape too- Congrats!
