Hey Everyone:

It's been awhile since I have found any silver so I was pretty excited to uncover a 1957 dime today. It was 11" deep. Sheesh...I thought I was digging to China. lol.

Here some pics of my dig.

I also found a 1954 wheat. It wasn't in that great of shape. I didn't even realize it was a wheat penny until I got home. I thought it was a memorial cent.

Have a great evening everyone!!!

That is great, Stan and thanks everyone for the encouragement. I know 11" deep wow... I was like: "I'm gonna find you if it takes me till midnight!" ha ha

I am having a blast doing this. HH to everyone as well.

John Boy: I thought the same thing but looking in the coin book and I think it's normal.

Good to know.I just thought you might of had a offset stamped dime.Great find though.

That is a really good ear! Hearing the beeps up close are one thing but the really deep signals can be very tough. I know, I did find a penny at 13 inches with my Groundhog once. Good job!

You reminded me of something that happened just recently. I had a signal on the sands of a beach, near the waterline. It started as a good 85 signal. I dug deeper and deeper and just couldn't come up with the target. Eventually, it disappeared completely. The detector couldn't pick it up anymore. I don't give up easily but the hole was already starting to fill up with water because it was so deep. I took out the Pro-Pointer and shoved it in the sand at the bottom and relocated the target. Evidently, every time I missed on the dig I moved it deeper until it was out of the range of my detector. I finally scraped it out and it was just a clad quarter but it almost got away! :)

Good job hunting and good luck!

HH!

ha ha that's a great story. I think it helped that the ground was pretty quiet...not a lot of trash around. I can't wait to find my first seated or standing liberty. I have found a mercury dime though. Well HH yourself. Thanks for the feedback.

WTG:icon_thumleft:You're not the only one that digs down to China:laughing9::laughing7:,,HH
