I was able to get to the lake this morning before the crowd took over. Took me about an hour in the water, to hit the wedding band in knee deep water. I don't recall what it read, but, out of the water it hit at 5, weighs a whopping 3 grams, 14K. It says wedlock on the inside. The inner layer looks to be white gold, with an overlay of yellow on the outside.
The Tarsacci MDT 8000 seems to run smoother with black sand and salt on for some reason, this is a fresh water lake btw. My settings were:
-30 disc
-2 Threshold
7-Sensitivity
Manual GB at 638
12 Khz
Salinity at 28
I went back to the lake to try my luck in the afternoon and it payed off
I used the same settings on the Tarsacci except I ran 18 Khz to look for small gold or a chain. Instead of hunting the water, I headed for the area between the water and the old shoreline.
I had hunted for almost an hour in 104 degree sun and was running out of gas fast and had only dug pulltabs and beavertails. I got a funky hit, read 4-5 VDI, but repeatable at about 6" out pops a ring. It had some weird staining on it, but still had that "gold" look to it. Out of the ground it read 6-7 and the reason for the choppy signal was the broken band.
I figured it was a junker, but, after a little cleaning it started looking a whole lot better and I can see 10K inside the band. It's a honker in size, but only weighs 9 grams, it's hollow under the stone. Not to bad of a start with the Tarsacci, 3 gold rings in a week. Water hunting is fun stuff lol!
