2 hour Hegins Park hunt

Tried to beat the Sun today and headed to the Park
in the fog.

Unfortunately shortly after I arrived The sun Popped out
So I ended up in the shade again























Anyway....

This park has given me allot of old Finds.
Many Moons ago I hit this spot Row for Row
With a Whites 6000-D Series 2 Detector for a month straight.
I dug Every signal. till site was Silent





I pulled many Coins from the 1850's Through the 1930's
out of this Spot.

When I bought My Sovereign this was one of my First destinations & guess what.
Not a single Coin find.

When I got my Explorer XS I hit it. Nothing

When I got my Explorer 2 again Nothing

Was the Whites 6000-D that Good ?

I always Said If someone can go into this Spot with a detector I have never tried
and find A Coin pre- 1964 that was obviously not a recent drop, that would be a Surprise. and If they found More then the 1 that I may have missed by Bad Luck
that is a detector worth looking into Right ?

Well I decided time to give it a decent try with the Explorer SE PRO

took almost 15 Minutes to reach it

So I guess it wasn't cleaned Out

beautiful park...sure must be people wondering why they can't find one stinkin wheatie there!lol

Yes but I would also guess someone could walk in there on their
first day of detecting. with a $30.00 Chinese detector,
and maybe even pull a Seated Half or Morgan Dollar
trust me this park could have them.
and once you start finding good finds in certain spots,
it's like magnet & you automatically avoid other areas

add to that all this wooded area, in the oldest part of the park









I get frustrated in. It's thick, Very Trashy & as I said dates to early 1800's
the left side of this road is the area I found the 1790's Half Cent.
The right person enters there could get lucky
won't be me... Like a magnet I get drawn to the areas I already got lucky

Cool Indians and even cooler story. I had a 6000Di Pro hip mount detector for many years. Long straight shaft and small coil. With the box hanging from the shoulder harness and just the small coil on the shaft it was feather light and you could swing it all day long. It had good depth and with the small coil would pin point very accurately. My hunting buddy at the time talked me out of it in the early 90's as an upgrade from his old Bounty Hunter. He moved out of state a year or so later. Wish I still had that old machine for nostalgia sake. My backup detector now is a lightly used 5500D Series 3 black box, but it doesn't match the 6000.

I used to be able to take my 6000-D under steel Bleachers & find coins & jewelry.

today's detectors are too sensitive to even get close to the same Bleachers.

When I sold my Whites in 2000 for $100.

I told the couple I'd buy it back for that same $100
anytime.

it felt like using a toy after I got used to the weight & sensitivity of the Sovereign

But the more I learn, the more I think I would still consider Buying that 6000-D series 2 Back if still working

would probably be uncomfortable on the Wrist though different handgrip setup
then I'm used to since '99

That is one beautiful park, nice work on those finds. I'd be pounding those woods after what you said, I love those trashy areas because no one else likes to hunt in them. When I was touring the backroads the other day and the week before (Pa. De. and Md.) I seen allot of beautiful giant parks. Just one of them would take me the rest of my lifetime to grid search. A big square a day, low and slow, when I get too old to dig, I'll hire a digger,lol ha.

once when I got over there.
there was a guy with an "XLT" I believe. he was in the woods trying to work it.
he pulled all types of Copper & silver out of his pocket and said he found all that in there
Of course it was a little hard to Swallow, But I said cool ! & went about my Hunt.

this was the same day I found the half cent so I can't say I was Jealous.

Like you said, there are days where one can dig to China and others when you can't.

I've put a few finds on hold myself. Mark where and come back when rested.

Everyday is like digging to China..lol

Does look like a nice park, I may have to ditch the sifting screen and take my machine on a road trip..
