Checked the forecast this morning and it was calling for rain all day. Wasn't raining at 8am so off I go!

Went the the site where I just got permission for last weekend. Huge area with tons of potential but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack looking for the actual sites. Even picking off the obvious areas will take weeks...oh well! I did find a few teasers but nothing to get excited about. The large copper is a One Stiver and it should clean up pretty good....the other copper is toasted. The lead seal is 19th century and is one I already have. German with crossed hammers. Also added another iron tool to my collection. Pretty sure this is an early one. I'll leave it in the vinegar for a couple months for restoration, Thanks for looking!

If that's a door knob you must be close to something ?
The claw hoe is a cool piece of iron.
Sounds like you might need some help.
I like those stivers.

Drawer pull, pot brass and the end of a spigot...definitely getting close as those are all old targets.

Nice assortment! Thanks for the tip about vinegar for iron, I did not know that.

Great hunt Romeo...I found the same two tinned fork in a hole with a bayonet several years back, def. French ..I'll see if I can get a pic up

Scouting a large new area often doesn't give up anything, so good that you can look for sites and still have a shot at something decent.

Yep...my maps show several sites on this piece of land and I think I've confirmed that with the finds thus far...just got to wait for the corn to come off a couple of the fields that look most promising.

The needle in the haystack thing sounds familiar. I've done a bit of that myself this year as well. I'm looking forward to your future posts when you do find the hot spots. Great finds from what sounds like a very promising area.

yup, I think you are hot on the trail. Going to be some goodies there for sure. You just let rick and me know if you need a hand with that site. wink wink.

It's nice not really thinking about where to go and have to get permission when you get there, lots of area to check at your leisure, sounds like heaven! Finding old stuff there already is the icing on the cake
