Went out today and purchased a new loop (A blue max 1500)Great for relic hunting but tiring on the arm. Returned to the 200 year old farm house and worked it for about 4 hours. An 1802 large cent was the only coin recovered. has a small hole in it The owner remembered the site of another house across the road that is also her property. The house burned a few years ago and dated from the 1700s. I recovered some interesting things from there,The box cutter was the last thing removed.blade was out nice and sharp and rusted. Thanks for looking.

That's a good looking LC and a nice pile of relics. Looks like you've found a great place to detect! Good luck and thanks for the pics.... ;D

I think a return visit would be worth doing....

Sure would be nice if one of those GW's

would pop out again! Nice job..!

Nice finds and congrats on the LC! That box cutter looks like you could easily restore it and use it. HH, Mike

That early large cent is a nice find. By the way, are there any fields surrounding those house sites? If there are, I would most certainly return and hunt them too!

Nice looking Large Cent.I wish the history of my state was old enough to make such a great find.My only Large Cent dates 1855 which is when this area was first settled.I like how it was holed right on the O in the word One.There should be many more great finds to be made in the surrounding area.Good luck on your next hunt there.

When I find a coin that I know has been in the ground longer than my grandparents have been alive, it makes for a great feeling. Awesome coin!

Nice lookin' piece considering the age....I wouldn't know how to act....Sweet find!!!!My daughter just bought a house c.1885....can't wait till they settle and move me in the front yard :)

Thank you for all the comments. The owner told me she had lived at the farm house for 51 years and that no one before me ever used a detector there. I guess farmers didn't lose too much change :)

thats funny you say that about farmers not loosing much change. i think the same thing. i was at a house this afternoon in BFE North Dakota at an old farmstead thats been empty for quite some time, house has been empty so long that it was leaning to one side. but as i was saying i havent had much luck at these old houses. i find a few wheats here and there but nothing special. oh well great finds and keep us posted on what you find when you go back out.

Nice!

It will be cool to see what all else comes from the new spot.

Sorry about the hole in that large cent. Still a great find. Would sure love to find one of those.

Congratulations,

Postalrevnant

Even with the hole...a very nice cent!
