I was fortunate to find this lil jewel years ago in a field of a long forgotten homesite. Didn't know it until years later how precious it exactly is. Samuel and Robert Best were two brothers that are considered not only some of the earliest but as the name says best silversmiths in the territory. They partnered only twice, once in 1812 and again 1817-1818. It's awesome having not just an early but local (45 mins away) piece of history!!!

Yeppers. Not too shabby for the cornfields of Indiana. Our history isn't as early as some but I'll sure take it lol thx pepper

Nice piece of silver! Congratulations on that little beauty.

Looks like it to me.
Well with the back missing it's hard to say for certain but I've always thgt it was a cufflink. I've looked for several years to find another one with no prevail. I've never seen another one online from them as well.

Coins are nice and easy to connect to a time in history. A hand made item has a much deeper connection to an individual's life in a particular time in history. To top it all off just 45 minutes away from you and your time in history is way cool! That one deserves a display case and a prominent spot on the shelf. Incredible find.
