2001 half few and far between

Can't explain it. I don't have the mintage figures, but there were likely 10 - 15 million minted.

It's the '02 - present that weren't released to the general public; and are kept when found by those on this forum.

I find tons of 2001s both P and D. I wish I could find as many silvers.

Same here, I have seen quite a few 2001's. I don't even give them a second glance, unless it has the mirror surface of a proof.

I once got a whole box of 2001D's. There are so many of them out there it's ridiculous. :D

US Mint page only had production figures for '05, '06 and through Jan '07 for half dollars.

05P - 3.8M
05D - 3.5M

06P - 2.4M
06D - 2.0M

07 (thru January) none minted yet.

Thought it was interesting and it explains why we're keeping any we find; they're almost as rare as the 87, 70D or many of the "S" proof halves.

Anyone have their redbook handy and can fill in the mintages for '02 - '04 ?

The 2001 seem to be the most common newer ones I find.

Thanks for the replies, Seeing lotsa 2000 including 8 uncirculated rolls hat I spent(oops) but literally have seen 2 total coins in the last 4000 searched. I geuss thos edidn't make it to MICHIGAN, maybe only casino states or close to I wonder.

Its the same way here in Beloit WI. I dont find many 2001s for some reason. And every once in a while I will get a bunch of rolls with really nice uncirculateds. One time it was all the 2002 -2006 in a bag mostly 2004. about $450 worth I was really picky I thought and still ended up keeping $350 bucks worth or so. One time it was 2000 D, and another 96P, and finnaly 92 D. All really nice coins and very few marks. I kept them just because..... but I dont really have a need for all of them.
