17th Annual Civil War Weekend
Map: http://www.google.com/maps?q=Greenbush,+WI,+USA&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title
In what has become the biggest and best Civil War reenactment in Wisconsin, Confederate and Union armies set up camp on the sprawling, wooded grounds of Wade House. Visitors meet and mingle with the troops as well as civilian sutlers ¿ civilian merchants who follow troop movements and sell Civil War-era merchandise. Each afternoon at 2 o'clock the opposing armies clash in a full-scale historic battle reenactment featuring cavalry, infantry and artillery duels.
Ticket Info: Adults $10; children (5-17) $5. Horse-drawn transportation on the site included in ticket cost.
Location Description: Wade House, an 1860s stagecoach inn built to serve traffic along the plank road that connected Fond du Lac and Sheboygan, tells the story of frontier entrepreneur Sylvanus Wade and his family during the Civil War years. In addition to the inn, the historic site includes the recently reconstructed Herrling sawmill, one of the few working, water-powered sawmills of its kind in the nation. Wade House is also home to the Wesley Jung Carriage Museum, which houses the state's largest collection of antique carriages and working wagons.
Venue: Wade House
Address: P.O. Box 34, W7824 Center Street
City: Greenbush
Accessibility Info: Partially handicapped accessible. Reasonable accommodations will be made for handicapped individuals. Call ahead to make arrangements.
