At TD bank I asked if they had any halves. She said I have 2, so I told her I would take them both. Long story short I found a 2009 S Half Dollar in uncirculated condition, but with a few major dings. What would it be worth? I think it's silver, right? Melt value?

Not all proofs are silver. In fact, the vast majority found will be clad. More than likely, you have a 2009 S Impaired Clad Proof. There is not much of a market for impaired modern proofs.

It does have a silver edge though.

flip it in the air and listen to the sound it makes...then flip the other one that you picked up....if they don't sound the same, then you have a 2009 s silver proof

It's definitely silver, but how much silver is in it? And how much is it worth?

P.S. I'm not expecting huge numbers

If it is silver, then it will be 90% silver. There are .3617 troy ounces of silver in 90% silver half dollars. At the current market rate, it contains $6.63 in silver value.
