I will be posting members with their numbers in order of the date found. The first person to find silver will have the no. 1 spot at the top, etc.
The (#) is the total of silver coins dug last year.

Kimsdad has bragging rights all year now.......That puts a lot of pressure on him to stay on top for the whole year....
But most of all have fun doing it K D..... :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

Got me a '20-D Merc to start the year off. 01-20-10

Just give me the next spot... :headbang:

I got 1 silver to day, and it was not from Neil's codpiece. I found a 36 merc in the woods today!

Updated 01-25-10. Already 10 for the year for us...Not a bad start.

Jon,
Bump me up to 2 silver -- I got a 41 -s merc today that I'll post later. That makes 11/2500 now. BTW do you want us to reply to this thread or the 2010 tally goals and ideas thread.

This thread for the silver, other thread (if you remember), for the other stuff. Or the other stuff we can just tally up at the end of the year.

Thanks,
You still need to bump me up to 2.

I got 10 in January...But waiting for the thaw this weekend...Maybe 1 or 2 more can be had

Found War Nickel 2/20/10

P2C is now up to 3!

Found a "1860 pairpoint mfg. co. 6" silver spoon today. Does that count?

Is there a silver hallmark?

Don't see any type of Hallmark Joe. I did find a silver plated spoon last year(it was worn and marked silver plate). Todays spoon is heavier and has some black tarnish to it. Having them side by side I can see a big difference in color.

Hope that spoon does turn out to be silver and not pewter or some other metal. I found a 1 troy ounce sterling silver fork last year it was probably from the early 1900's, so it bore the stamp "sterling" along with a hallmark. Your fork sounds older, so it would not have "sterling" printed on it, but I would be a little suspect with it not having a maker's mark.

I found a lot of non coin silver last year, but I think most people, including myself, only counted coins found on this count. I remember there being some debate over war nickels even (some count em some don't). So I am saying if it were me, I'd just count the silver coins, though I am sure Lookin4Seated can give you the official position.

Nice find on the spoon. If it is silver, it may be worth more than the melt value...

Put me on the list! Found 2 Mercs today! My first silvers ever, I'll be sure to post pics later
