Please take a look at tis, it's an uncirculated 2014 Lincoln. The "I" in liberty is clearly two "I's", the top looks like the top of an "m". It's not listed on the double die gurus websites. Any ideas? It's about as large as I can get it with my equipment. 2014.webp

Strike doubling? The doubled portion looks flat on the L.

Sent from my iPhone using TreasureNet

The portion on the "L" is unfortunately an optical illusion.

Again it's all just md. Not a true "doubled" die coin.

The "I" in liberty has a top like an "M". it's either a double die or reengraved die with a sharp line through the "I". Thoughts?

I see this is an old post but I was searching some change and just came across the same so I looked it up and I seen this..I also have 2014 that looks just like that

As said before, it's simple machine doubling. Face value. I would need to see a pic of yours to tell what it is, but probably the same thing.

Agree also, unfortunately it's strike doubling.

Here are some pics of a 2014P WDDO-003 that I found last year.

I'm really shocked that you had the patience to find that. Congrats. To the normal eye, nothing stuck out.

It really doesn't take much patience. I myself search coins every day. Just sitting in my chair with a loupe watching TV, one coin at a time. They jump out at you when seen under a loupe!

Probably because I don't do pennies anymore. When I did pennies, I did it for copper so I was going through quite a few boxes frequently. I couldn't search through all the zincolns for wide AM's, close Am's, and the like. It was too much.

The type 3's don't bring much. I have a type 2 that I had slabbed - that's the one to get! The first coin eventually got spent.

How much did it cost to get it slabbed? With PCGS or NGC? Did you have to pay extra for the special designation?

What "type 3" are you talking about?

Same here, I do $10.00 worth of pennies daily and then occasional bricks of dimes/quarters and a few boxes of halves.

I use to get $100.00 bags of Ike's from a local bank, but that got closed down a few years ago! :(

The DDO-003 is the third type found, hence type 3. IT cost $45 to get it slabbed by PCGS.

It's not referred to as a type. Just a number. That's what confused me. Types are variations in the actual design used in a calendar year. Like the 1998,1999 and 2000 type II reverses.

Did you have to pay extra to get the designation on the slab? I had a couple coins I found as errors, I thought about getting them slabbed.

It's important to remember just because you have errors it doesn't mean they are valuable. In other words, don't pay $30 to have a $4 error slabbed. Some are common and some rare.
