Hey everyone!

2017 has been fun. I didn't start the year with any goals because I wasn't actively detecting. I only took my detector out once before late June.

Since then it's been a whirlwind! My brother and I's previous best year was 2009 when we found 15 silver coins and 75 wheats. My goal this year became to pass that. We passed those numbers back in September so our updated goal was 25 silvers and 150 wheats.

Currently we're at 24 or 25 silvers (pending the results of a test on a 1968 Canadian quarter) and now up to 145 Wheats. It's looking like solid rain here for the next week so I took advantage of the nice weather here for a few hours this evening to nab a few more coins.

Oldies from today:
-3 Wheats (44-S, 49-S, 51-D)
-1 KGVI Canadian cent (52)

Also found a few odds and ends including part of a toy car and what appears to be some type of old lock (no markings).

Thanks for looking and good luck with the last 2 weeks of the year!

Sounds like you had a fantastic year! Congratulations!! Gotta love all that silver. What's your target for 2018?

Good question! I'm not sure yet but initially it will probably be to match this year's totals and find a couple older coins (this year I found 1 Indian Head, No Barbers, No V Nickels and no U.S. coins older than that).

Good year you had and hope 2018 will be the best for you!

Great job I also find what seems like 20 to 30 wheats or more per silver . I think back in the depression era and before people picked up any thing above a penny lol Hope 2018 is even better for you.. Thanks for the great post!!!!! Tommy

Congrats on 2017,,, I hope 2018 is even more productive.
I like the old railroad lock.

The old lock is radical! Way cool find. Congrats on a very productive season.:headbang:

Thanx for sharing and good luck in 2018 fellow Washingtonian.

Great year of detecting, congratulations! :occasion14:

Well done sir. Congrats.

25 silver coins in half a year is good, using my scale. You know that older coins come from older places. I struggle with this all of the time too. Those dastardly hunters in the Northeast make it look easy.

Best of luck to you.

Congrats on a nice season. I like that old lock, and dog tag. 25 silvers in a season is a pretty good accomplishment.

Congrats on the silver totals, though looking at the age of the lock I'd be hoping for coinage of the same vintage.
