Haven't hunted in a few weeks and didn't take advantage of a couple of single day melts recently to get out, and now with the cold back it's done for good. So the detectors are put away and this years finds will get put in their cases/appropriate places once I click to post this.

It's 2019 done for me, but also it's 20 years I've now been suffering in this miserable hobby. It was certainly a good year digging, but a rather strange one because since 1999 it has always been a handful of early military buttons -- ones I really liked that made my years. I did dig some buttons this year, but this time it was more in addition to my better finds. It was also weird in the way that I got 4 very good sets of 2. It started in the early Spring with 2 rare local tokens and not long after 2 key date Canadian silver. Then before that season ended I dug a trade silver ring (a first for me) and then unbelievably to start the Fall I got a 2nd trade silver with the nice designed brooch. At the end of the Fall came the 2 American silver... first the capped bust half dime (a 1st) and then the nice seated quarter (only my 2nd). Those 8 definitely made my year, but there was some buttons I do like, the lion buckle was something different, and the counterfeit countermarked French ECU is cool as hell.

My plan this Winter is to get everything super organized and basically file it all away and then start another 20 years and see how that goes. It most definitely will never match the sites and finds Ironhorse and I have come up with but that doesn't mean we are not going to try! :)

Wow man. killer.

That French ECU is super cool.

Well done and then some.

You are a true detectorist in a darn good spot! Gary

Awesome year! Congrats! Thanks for sharing the pics.

WOW!!! Too many great finds to single out any one. Congratulations! Can't imagine there's anything left in the ground when you guys detect a site. Also, the cleaning job on all those finds is perfect. Seems like 20 years has perfected you craft. Best of luck on another 20+!!!

colour me impressed!
you finished the double decade in fine style....amazing finds including highly desirable buttons, coins, and relics
it will be tough topping this year for you but I know we are sure going to try!
congratulations on another memorable year of finds

Awesome results! You sure had a great diversity this year. I particularly like both of your trade silver items, fob seal and the counterfeit Ecu. As I have previously told you, hard to imagine how would look the 20 years total, you must have a small museum by now. Good luck in 2020! :occasion14:

If everything I dug from day 1 was displayed, yes that would be pretty insane, but when it's only the better finds that make it into the cases so it doesn't take up much room at all.

The stuff outlined blue just goes in a pile. The relics and buttons I have a small trunk for... the bullets a wood box, and the coins I have in bags and have yet to decide what exactly to do with them. I used to have a display in my cabinet which was cool, so might do something like that again this Winter.

There are too many great finds here to comment on so I will say this: This deserves a clap of the hands. Thanks for sharing all the great stuff! That cartwheel penny is very cool! Congrats on it all and 20 years is amazing! I hope I can get there some day. 16 to go!
