2025, Futuristic metal detecting find

Made it out a couple times over the weekend. Once with MetalHeadz and one solo hunt, both city park woods.

While hiking and sweeping in the second park woods I eye-balled this in the leaf clutter. (No wallet, just loose)

Brought it home with my other finds and my 16 yr old son perked up when I showed him the card, first time in 3 years he has shown any interest in a find. He went to a couple of websites on his phone and said it has $5.02 on it. He does not carry any cash, just cards. In 100 years detectorists will only find plastic as all coins will be phased out...

Did find a couple older coins.


And a handful of wheats.


Dragon eye looking marble and brass adornment.


My land mine find was ID’d as a grandfather clock pendulum weight. Very heavy



And a nice green Bell was ID’d as modern.

Ya its going to be a sad time when it all goes plastic.

I thought about buying a Merc online with the card just for the heck of it. I haven’t found as many IHP’s as last year so far. I think I’m at 6 FTY.

I didn't start tracking coin totals until 2011. I found 15 IHPs that year and that was the most until this year. Of course I typically don't hunt sites from the IHP era, but the early sites are getting harder and harder to come by.

Nice finds. I love Indian Head pennies. In the future, there probably won't be plastic either, as transactions will be done on devices, either external or internal - yikes. Any way, congrats!!
