Howdy All-

Hope your day is going well.

Went out today and did a little MD'ing. Didn't really find anything to write home about, but I did fin this .22 shell with an "H" stamped on it. I am trying to date it and have read some other forum posts about this cartridge. But what I am trying to find out, does anyone know how to tell if the cartridge is Brass or Copper? Is there a test or someway to tell? This will help in dating the cartridge casing.

Thanks and HH,
Ben

Hey Angileri,

I find these every so often as well. Winchester first started loading the .22 in 1890 and used the "H" (For Benjamin Tyler Henry) right from the beginning.
In fact, the "H" was used from about 1865 on other rimfires and continued until about 1990.

Cool....learning new stuff everyday.
