Yup. My mower found this.

Iron shaft severely corroded and brass? end part in good shape.

'Discovered' in an area not previously mowed - canary grass swamp edge - of circa 18XX farmstead.

Besides where the mower shaved it, the brass part seems hardly worn. My guess so far is some sort of belt guide?
 
Maybe a piston and rod assembly for an old hand pump :dontknow:

I believe it is a part to a governor that fit on top a steam engine. The brass pulley (see arrow) part sat on a shaft that went through a cast sleeve and attached to a gear.
