I made my usual rounds this morning looking for yard sales, usually within a mile of my house. After a couple sales that were not too exciting, I stopped at a moving sale. I saw basically nothing of interest until I spied an old looking mahogany box with a locking mechanism. When I opened it up I saw the knives and forks with mother of pearl handles. All are hallmarked plain as day with the lion, the Sheffield crown, date letter for 1905, and George Hape makers mark. 12 knives and 12 forks. The lady said they once belonged to her grandparents in San Francisco. She was asking $75 so I offered her $60...settled on $70. I am certain I can triple my money without too much effort. Wow what a beautiful set.

Excellent score!

Congratualtions on the beautiful fork/knife set! :icon_thumleft:

Beautiful set. Well done on a great score.

Just realized 1 of the knives doesn't exactly match the others. :dontknow: so a 23 piece +1 set I guess.

That’s an excellent purchase and I’m sure you will make a few bucks when you sell the set. Congrats

Rare to find knife blades of sterling silver. Ya did good.

Funny thing. Out here, Silverware and Flatware are generally cheap, unless they are in the box. The flatware sells for $1 a setting, the box sells for $150 (they won't sell the flatware without the box, so its all or nothing).
