Picked up $270.00 in nickels yesterday & found the following;

1 20 cent mexican coin 1982
the following pre1960's

for a total of 64 pre 60's & a grand total of 69 keepers out of circulation!

I'm hoping the coins I ordered last week comes in today, all out of coins & going into withdrawls LOL

I keep a few other nickels as well as the ones you mentioned.

Because the mintage is lower on the 1960, 1961 and 1962 plain nickels than most of the 1950s Denver mints are, I think they are worth keeping too. Not the D's, which are plentiful, but the rarer 1960 - 1962 Plains.

That is a very good question, The keepers mostly came from the machine rolled coins, both buffalos, both silvers & I would say 60-65% of the pre 60's did.

A few weeks ago I had picked up some nickels & 3 of the rolls were all pre 60's. I was so happy I went back to that same bank to see if they had anymore & they did, but no luck with them, they also said they had sent out $1500.00 in quarters the friday that I had picked up those nickels, always a day late & a dollar short!
