Great stuff! I can't believe these pieces aren't found more often than they are...but it may be that folks don't know What they are when they find them.

Nice digs!

It appears that your whatzit is a key to a car which is not being made anymore.

Cheers,

Now that is a sweet CW relic,Congrats

If this article above the key is what is needing ID...
I believe it to be the trigger of a firearm.

Thanks Old Dog. The key was just for size comparison. Would you happen to know what kind of firearm it may go to? Thanks again.

Having found a half dozen in my part of the country i am focusing on basic ID.
I have been lucky once and found the rest of the action for the gun once.
This way I was able to ID only one to the gun it goes to.

I have tried many places to get information...
One of the best seems to be a semi-interested gun smith friend who has lots of books.
ask around and see if there is one near you with an interest in CW era weapons.

Sorry I am not more help.
Thom

Nice finds. I hope we continue to find more.

Musket (or any gun, to include ship's cannons) barrel plug.

Used to keep weather and assorted "junk" out of the barrel durring transport.
Removed just prior to engaging the enemy.

I believe the correct spelling in TOMPION, from the French. Looks like it is of British manufacture. The British supplied many thousands of rifles to the belligerents during the C.W.

:tongue3:
Oh ! Whew !Tamp-I-on....!
::) That was a close one !
