I use Lime Away Gel (green bottle) to clean nickels.

Plumb,
Great looking coins! The Lime Away really worked well on the Buff.
-MM-

Nice to see the old stuff coming to the surface!

Good luck!.........HH

Take a pic of the V after you clean it. The Lime Away probably does work good on nickles...never tried it on them though.

Thanks for the tip!

I'd say you had a great day! Good finds! ;D

I put the cleaned and uncleaned nickels next to each other to show the before and after.
The two on the left are cleaned with Lime Away.

great finds and great pic ! congrats ;)

Great finds!

Now that the snow is gone I might get out and see what I can do. One more storm this weekend but I think we're on the down slope for heavy snow in the valley.

Good Hunting!

Ya know I never heard of that stuff...What exactly is that stuff and where would I go to locate that Lime Away gel? How long would you say it takes you to clean that Nickel with it?

I've tried CLR...It doesn't do the job. Anyhow Cool finds...Congrats and HH

Lime Away can be found in any grocery store with the household cleaners. It is used to clean water deposits from the sink or other areas. It works good for that. I have never tried it on dug coins but from the pictures Plumloko has posted it must work.

Before anyone jumps on the coin cleaning thing, "I Know!" To each his own.

Sweet! Looks like a good spot.

:3some:

Get a room, Smilies!

Always Love Silver, man what a great find...congrats

The two cleaned Nickels were left in it overnight.
They certainly look better than the one on the right!
Using this method produces the best cleaned Nickels that I have seen.
Dont forget about them when you are cleaning, if you overdo it they will start to look etched.
I would practice with clad ones first.
Make sure when your done to thorughly get all the Lime Away off!

How did you find out about it? Trial and error maybe? Nickels are pretty hard to clean...I'm gonna have to try it...Thanks for the info guys...

WTG  Thanks for the tip on the limeaway
