3/15/14 Central IL Creek

Well, after the last amazing trip to the creek. Wednesday we saw the creek go up and all the gravel disappear. So by Saturday the water fell enough to expose lots of fresh gravel. About 1/2 way to our turn around spot we barely spotted this one. Thanks for lookin'. sixeight

JMO and I may be wrong but it looks like a Koster I think. What ever it is it is a super find

Its amazing the ears were still there. Might not of traveled far from where you found it. Its a real beauty and I thought you only liked pottery.

Me too! I enjoy the pottery but the worked flint is always better.

Koster is a small Late Woodland arrow point named by Greg Perino for the Koster site in Greene Co., Illinois. They are most often made on a flake with one or both sides showing the original flake surface. This point is not a Koster but one probably related to the Snyder cluster, maybe a Manker named after the Manker site in Greene Co., Illinois. True Snyders have larger notches
