3/4ths mini axe and point.

Hello everyone, 1st post. Looks like a great community here of artifact and treasure enthusiasts. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces. A 3/4ths minature axe found in PA. Also a point found in Missouri, I believe maybe its an Eden? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts. Thanks!

Very fine axe with some beautiful material, nicely made too.Chipped piece is a big one but I don't think Eden possibly an Etley. Someone will know.

yes That point does not look like an eden.

Did you purchase these or find them.
If found these, in what context where they found?
If purchased, from an auction or dealer?

The ax looks to be highly polished, which is not often the case.

I don't see much patina or deposit on the point. They look relatively clean.

Can you take better images, close up, showing patina and deposits please?

Neither, its just a black imperfection/vein running through the material.

I purchased these from an individual who used to hunt for points in Missouri before she became disabled. I bought multiple items from her and all appear to be legitimate with patina. They do not look modern, to me at least.

The axe was her grandfathers who found it on their farm in PA 80 years ago supposedly. Its not as polished as the pics make it out to be. There are small deposits on it, especially in the groove. Its hard to see from the pictures. The point is the same way. It was found in a creek supposedly. Small deposits/patina are seen in the blade.

Aren't Benton blades typically thicker without a stem?

Oh okay, looking at pictures of Bentons it does have similar characteristics but they do not appear to be in the Missouri area? Leaning towards welsburys suggestion on the Etley. Why not an eden?

They have been found in Missouri.

Why not an Eden you ask.

For starters, the base is all wrong.

Edens normally exhibit much nicer flaking.

The bases and stems are pretty much always ground.

it could be an etley. I’m not hanging my hat on any type for sure.

oh ok, thanks for the clarification! I am still learning about how to identify these properly. What do you mean by bases/stems being ground?

The end that was attached to the stick or bone was ground down on the bottom and or side edges so they weren't sharp like the rest of the point.
