Got out to a new spot in a Baltimore City park with JF. The hunt started well with my first keeper being an 1884 IHC.

We headed back to a spot where the 1877 Hopkins map shows there to be an outbuilding associated with a large estate. Today the site is a disused baseball diamond with really no evidence of mound or base paths, but to make this the whole area was disturbed. Despite that I was finding old iron and there were many iron signals. Somewhere near first base I dug this 2-cent piece IMG_6987.webpIMG_6988.webp.

While I continued to detect the ballfield, JF had moved to a slope and was moving away with his search pattern. Not long afterward he was exultant as he had uncovered a worn but identifiable 1 reale dating from Charles III. Whether my 2-center, the square nails and his reale really evidenced that we had found the old estate site (now gone) we do not know.

We remained in the park and headed east trying to find any "old" dirt we could. Along the way I found these two mercs and a 925 Chinese dragon ring

One small pin I dug back at the ballfield is a puzzle to me. It reminds me of a war veteran pin but I haven't found a match online. Help would be appreciated

That 2 cent piece is a beauty and the silver is always welcome. Congrats

Thanks Hawks88! Very happy with a 3-silver day. That 2-center is the 2nd I've dug at this park.

You did good! I've been out a few times but not getting much but colonial iron. And chewed up Lincolns.

Really great day! Congrats on all the finds.

The two cent coin is absolutely beautiful! All of the finds were terrific, but if I ever find a two cent coin in that condition, I'll throw a party!

Thanks smokey! The Equinox 600 can find it all.

Is that a Russian military pin, pre 1990? Just a thought.

Thanks TomW244! I think the party was last night. I met my youngest son at Independent Brewery in Bel Air, Maryland for beers and food.

Nice handful of LOOT!
That 2 cent-piece is sweet!
Did you clean it any?
Silver is ALWAYS Welcome...!
Quite an age-spread among your coins...!
Good show! :icon_thumright:

Thanks tomhighland! Weather was great for detecting. We had an Equinox 600 (mine) and Garrett ATMax (JF) dueling.

Thanks eyemustdigtreasure! I'm with you on that. yes, did clean the 2-cent piece with light toothpick, hydrogen peroxide, light rub with baking soda, and over-night soak in oil. Park is known for diversity of targets. JF and I have each dug two Spanish silvers here.

A very great day detecting. Just would like to add some facts I have dug numerous 2 cent pieces and the majority of them you can't read the we on the banner.Yours is very clear and should clean up nice.

Thanks thrifty76now! I've read that "We" is one of the first details to go. Happy hunting!

Great day! That 2 cent is a beaut! Love the detail and patina

Thx Nick79! When I dug it I first thought it was a clad quarter, then when I picked it up and sensed that t was thicker I thought Large Cent but the diameter was wrong and a little more rubbing revealed the "2", and then I knew I had a 2-cent piece.

Wow, what a day you two had. Amazing stuff, thanks for sharing!

Great looking 2 cent piece!! Congrats!!!
