We started by trying 2 fields that were meant to be next to a Norman wooden Castle. We were trying to find evidence from this period but we got none. May be some of the Historical Records that thought it was never finished was true....
We had done 2.5 hrs & it was super sticky, but I didn't want to leave without a good find, so we decided to do another 30mins on a good field but an ankle breaker!
Turns out that was a good plan, my mate had a 1675 Silver Maundy Penny of Charles I & I got a Hammered of Lizzy I, plus a French Jetton.

Nice recoveries Cru' and mate! The silver Maundy... originally given out annually to an elderly person of that time?

Those coppers are more like what we find in the "colonies" and I would be happy with them for a day's find. I can see a KG III h'penny, a George V penny, what looks like a farthing and another h'penny and penny I cannot recognize.
The silvers are are great to see. I don't expect to find one here.
Thanks for continuing your series of posts. They are always interesting but particularly nice during our winter hiatus here.

Nicely done on the hammered, and the Jetton is in fine shape.

Fantastic job on sticking it out to get those finds!

VERY NICE Crusader :) Thank you for posting for us

I'd be excited to find any of them. Thanks for sharing (with us). The king has plenty.

Nice finds Crusader, how's the weather for detecting there?

Great finds Cru'!!!

The small hammered has exceptional detail. Very nice!

You gotta hold some sort of record for hammered coins found seperately outside of a horde. Shoot you may even have more found that most who have found a horde. Well done as always

Getting better, was a little wet under foot, but we will soon be out of options until harvest.
