Today I met up with one of my buddy's at a spot we've detected quite a few times. The house was built in the 1920's. The yard has turned up quite a few silver dimes. But I never could seem to get my hands on one. Every time we went my buddy would always end up calling me over to show me a silver dime in the bottom of his hole. The only cool thing i had ever managed to turn up was a tax token. But I had a good feeling about today. I started out digging plenty of nails and trash and a few memorial cents. My first interesting find was what I believe was a old state farm insurance keychain. It says 40 years of family insurance on one side and the other side has a lot more but I can only make out a phone number and a last name. I also found two keys. One of them is kinda neat it has a lion on it and some letters I can't make out. Then my next good signal was a 1934 wheaty. Then my buddy yells for me to come over. I knew he had found yet another silver dime. It was a Rosie. I was disappointed to hear him say we were fixin to have to leave. I told him lets dig one more signal apiece before we left. I swept and swept with no signals then I worked my way to my truck then all of a sudden I got a tone on my dfx I hadn't really came across but it sounded sweet. I popped the plug up turned on my pro pointer and move the dirt around and when I grabbed a handful of dirt I couldn't believe my eyes. I was holding in my hand my very first merc. And not only that but is also my very first silver coin. It dated 1926. Not thinking I covered my hole and forgot to recheck it. Then I ran my detector over it by mistake and heard another signal from the hole. I yelled at my buddy and told him there was more in the hole. Turned out it was my first pocket spill I've dug. Left in the hole was a 1944 wheaty and a 1955 nickel. Today turned out to be a pretty awesome day.
