3 gallon jar or crock - anybody know where it came from? Catawba River area

Hi. Thanks for reading my post. I have a 3 gallon clay crock or jar and was curious if anyone knew anything about it. It is stamped with the number 3 and has two small attached handles on the sides. The glaze is brown and the clay on the bottom where it is not glazed is lighter brown with a pink tint. I can find no marks except for the number 3, but I like the jar because you can see four fingerprints in the glaze on the bottom. I live less than 2 miles from the Catawba river and found this locally, but I don't know if it is from around here or not. Any help would be appreciated.

That's not Catawba Valley pottery. Looks like something from up North to me. The glaze is Albany Slip and the Catawba Valley potters didn't use that.
