3 more firsts and broke into the 1800's on top of it
This week was my lucky week
Detecting the same area that i found my 1st Merc. dime(pic posted)the only difference has been that I've been hunting with another Tnet member(disciple) she has two White's machines the DFX and a PrizmII,thanks to her for letting me swing the prizmII the past 3 days is what i believe made these finds possible.
Day one: we met at the spot and had about an hour before she had to leave,so covering as much of the area in the given time as possible we began swinging. The first half hour was uneventful as we found the usual cans, tabs, clad, and alot of foil tops that went on the old glass gal. milk containers from Byrne dairy(all chocolate). Now there was only about 15 minutes before she had to head home for the day,I began asking her if she ever found buffalo nickles,Indian head pennies, and the lot she got a signal and began to dig a hole...5 feet from her i got a signal and i did the same, just then she says hey i found a buffalo nickle thinking how ironic it was to find one and we just spoke about it(i looked at it too make sure she wasn't pulling ma leg)sure was a buffalo...i went back in my hole and continued to probe around..(find in hand gazing at it)i started to laugh,what...what...she said.....I just found an Indian head penny 1897(fantastic condition) at 5in(1 cent signal)....wow what a first as well as breaking me into the 1800's
and Congrats on the Buffalo nickle disciple
.
Day two: same area more time..more clad, tabs, bottle caps, and those foil choc. milk tops. Not too sure how long we spent there a few hours maybe, approaching the end of the days hunt...again i get a signal that read (50 cent/dollar) i assume the position thinking of what it will be..maybe one of those foil tops
or some other type of trash, about 6-7 inches in the hole the probe sniffed it out..brushing the soil around a bit i see my 1st Ben Franklin(1950) looking back at me as if too say it's about time...another smile drew across my face(keeping quiet this time)i filled my hole back in,walked over to disciple with this cheesy smile showing her Big Ben..she just said in disbelief.."get out"...
Day three(today): disciple and i decided to take a drive to a local beach/amusement park where there is alot of history spending only about 1 1/2 hours at the most, didn't find much maybe 3 dollars in clad between the both of us..she did find a chucky cheese token stuck on a large key...so not finding much more than that we ended up leaving and then drove around a bit scoping out new sites to no avail. No clue where to go we headed back to old faithful(yup that same area we hunted the past 2 days)seeing we did well there, back working the area for a few hours clad never fails here(tons of it..i think somebody is planting it for us lol) once again toward the end of our hunt disciple went and detected around some trees nearer to the road and as i lagged behind the prizmII rang out 10cent on the read out...figuring I'd go and join her after getting the find out..approx.4-5 inches with a mixture of stones and sandy soil i reach in to pull out a fistfull of soil when i heard a ..TING...looked back in the hole OMG...OMG..I was so excited i cant put it in words, instantly i recognized it....a 1907 Barber Dime yet another first,it's really in amazing shape for being 100 years old(crisp and clean as the day it was lost).I showed it to my detecting buddy and we both agree that the past three days have been pretty good to me..truly 3 days of unforgettable finds as well as camaraderie i will never forget..what else can i say other than....THAT SPOT ROCKS....
Using the White's PrizmII for the past 3 hunts has changed my mind about buying the ACE250...I'm sold on the White's machines and will be getting a White's detector myself very shortly...the Bounty Hunter missed these three coins and the prizmII got em..so IMO theres nothing to think about. And i have to thank disciple for letting me use the detector and all the laughs, fun hours spent hunting i wouldn't have found those coins otherwise.
thank you all for looking stay safe & HH
