Metal Detecting
I took a 2-hour drive to a very old beach where I found a LC in the past. I started detecting on the beach and got a couple coins in an hour so I decided to try in the water. I spent 2 hours in the water and got a swiss army knife and a bunch of sinkers to show for it. I started getting frustrated so I tried the beach again and got 3 musket balls right away and what appeared to be a Large Cent. It was a tiny piece of copper, smaller than a dime, but I looked at it and noticed the detail was the face of the coin. It must have been in the surf for 175 years! I got excited at that point and stayed on the beach. I got 2 small buttons, one copper and one I believe is lead; it still has the shank and feels very brittle. I got one more Matron Head Large Cent that was not too worn and a nice old buckle and some other various things. Does anyone know about how old or what type of buckle this is? Thanks.
