These 3 items were found at the CW battle site we hunted yesterday. Currently, it’s a cow pasture.
The larger one.

Middle one. Same build as the larger one.

The single tree ring makes sense. Found a hitch part in the same area. Forgot to post a pic of it and our oldest daughter took it to school today. They're currently learning about how people traveled back in the day lol

So the “race” parts...seem CW era due to the crud buildup?

The first two are outer races for a cone bearing.

Probably a dumb question...does this go on a car wheel?

And yes, they are tapered.

To big for a car, Maybe truck or heavy wagon frame. The large bearing goes on the back side of the hub and the small one goes on the front.. Some saw mills also used them on the blabe shaft.

Since the one is so large, I would say it is from a farm tractor. I do not believe it to be CW related.

Probably not a bearing race... most raceways had cylindrical ODs. Also, Timken tapered bearings were not invented until 1898... see my Timken Coffee cup with original patent printed on it.

Omg I love the mug! (I'm a mug hoarder/collector lol) So you think it's like a Timken? The 1901 Barber was found in the same area. Definitely not CW era lol I'm not sure what the property had on it before cattle. Possibly old houses along the river? Where/are these bearings used on tractors? I'm ignorant when it comes to that stuff lol

Wheels of tractors, cars, trucks have wheel bearings that " ride " on the axles. There is an inner wheel bearing & race & an outer bearing & race.
