Yeah, I got to agree with you. This is one of the most ridiculous things out there. I long since figured out that when I order from fast food I just ask for light ice and get almost double the soda. If you let them back your drink full of ice you barely get anything. Chick-Fil-A is notorious for that.
 

Most, if not all beverage dispensing systems correct the dispensed product to a colder temperature which enables a more efficient flow. No ice, or the option of "light ice" will resolve this issue.

I'm wondering if 4 8oz. plastic cups take up less space in the landfills.
