I have some new land to examine - miles of it.
First impression was breath taking, Massive ancient trees, a couple of 'old' buildings - hills and stream, etc. nearly all short pasture.
If I don't get myself blown up first I'm sure its going to give some nice surprises.
Some of the land had been used for some WWII training and this soon began to show as I began digging up the remains of the 36M MkI Mills Bomb Hand Grenades:

and the .303 Enfield Rifle Cartridges:

It wasn't all War and Doom though,
Retrieved a few coins:

and a few buttons:

including one from the 'Fire Brigade' showing the Helmet on Crossed Axes:

And a few other bits and bobs:

Can't wait to get back - I'm sure there will be older things there.
Best wishes.

In just a few hours!
I think I may just avoid that 'Grenade' area for a while and get the rest covered first!
What would happen if my spade hit an unexploded one :icon_scratch:
I'll put the rest of the plugs in a box for you if you want more!

Just watch out for those stuck fuse timers...get one of those tickers moving again and...well...yuou know!
Is that a window punch or a pen...looks like a real nice one if it is! I like those longer ones...more power...less chance of getting cut!

Hi Tom,
I'm not quite sure what it is - no, its not a pen - It does unscrew into 2 parts, I was thinking heavy-duty tent peg - the hole in the top for the guide rope to be attached. Hardly a blemish on it - nice steel, about 8" buried.
