'38s Jeff and some odd foreign coins

I guess technically this was pocket change hunting, not roll hunting but I think it's close enough to qualify. I found a 38s Jefferson this week in average condition. But what was really weird was the 3 foreign coins I found in my change. All 3 of them are the exact diameter of a US quarter, two are the same thickness, one is a bit thicker.

1995 - 500 LIVRES, BANQUE DU LIBAN - thicker than but lighter than a US quarter
1991 - REPUBLICA DOMINICAN, VENTICINCO CENTAVOS
???? - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

I also found a 2007 5 pence coin a few weeks ago. Not sure where it's from.

Any info on these coins is appreciated. I guess I'm out 85 cents but what the heck, some neat finds.

Thanks,
Joe

Congrats on the '38-S, those are somewhat tough to find. I've only got a handful after tons of boxes of nickels.

Yeah I thought the 38-S was a '58 at first glance, then got into some better light and it's clearly a 38. I hadn't found one of those before.

The 1995 coin is a Lebanon 500 livres, worth about 30 cents.
The 1991 Dominican 25 centavos is worth 6/10 of a cent.
The 2007 UAE 1 dirham is worth 27 cents.
The 2007 British 5 pence is worth 8 cents.

Dont worry about the 85 cents, once you start assembling enough foreign money, its one of those things you slowly collect without realizing you are collecting. And when you realize you have a collection, it'll be worth more than $0.85 cents.

I've gotta ask: why did you accept foreign coins as change?

I've gotta ask: why did you accept foreign coins as change?
Because I'm of below average intelligence?
Because I'm so damn rich it doesn't matter to be if I get change at all, let alone in a foreign currency?
Because I'm blind and was duped out of $0.85 by some unscrupulous person?
Because I travel a lot and forgot what country I was in?
Because I'm not the only person in my household and, more than likely, they were the recipient of the change and didn't notice because they don't know or care to know anything about coins?
Because of Obama?
Because of Bush?
Daylight savings time screwed me up again?
The frickin' metric system.....
Because the Fed is culling sliver....
I'd guess it's either one of the reasons listed above or a different reason that I didn't list.

Sagittarius98 - thanks for the info, that's what I was looking for.
EE - OK, that one might actually have been from my own change then. I travel a lot for work and have been to the UK recently....

Thanks

That's hilarious. Lol
