Went out for a few hrs today. 1st 2 sites looked promising but alas nada, zero zilch.

Went back to a site I'm been to before & 1st dug the small spoon. Was stuck between some roots so it got a little bit busted.

Got the 1st button from the site a very small one but still had some gilt still on it.

Further along go a good signal but turned out to be a large pc of iron but the Naval Button was in the hole as well. I'm psyched & hope it's CW but got a feeling it might be 1870-1880's. Any naval button experts please help me on this. Back mark is Scoville Waterbury.

Finally dug the larger spoon towards the end of the hunt. I'm hoping this place will produce some coins soon.

HH!
Roger

Yep your Marine button is period the Scovill backmark has to rings of dots and a small backmark. Nice find there.

So it's a Marine button, not Naval? What dates would it range?

Don't feel bad....I dug some marine buttons and thought they were navy to...hahah....I dug 5 of those on a cellar lip....I believe them to be in the CW period with the scovill waterbury backmark.

Very cool flower button!

wow....that marine button is in great shape! nice score :headbang:

I can refer you to this site the back is good so as I stated it appears to be 1860's manufacture A keeper there.

Thnaks again my friend :icon_thumright: . I'm a huge CW buff as well as a former 12 year Confederate CW Re-enactor before kids LOL! I always hopes to find something CW related but being up here in the North the pickins are slim. I know the name of the family that used to live there so I'll have to check the rolls for that town to see what I can find out.

HH,
Roger
