Our plan A was thrown out the window when we arrived at the Barley field (with the intel on) & it still hadn't been finished because of a combine breakdown. Although this field was being done as we arrived, it will have to wait until Friday.
Plan B was a very long drive from one tip of our territories to the other & once again we were surprised to see Wheat in one of the fields instead of the Barley stubble & as luck would have it the other had oil-seed rape that just happened to have a tractor on it mashing up the stalks & roughing it up a bit.:laughing7:
The heavy clay lumps were a nightmare, but what was great news is that an old hunch of mine that this field may have another hidden site on it, came true after about a 20 minute scout. We found the previous site years ago & it was covered in pottery but when we gridded it all, we only got 2 scrappies. So we knew it had been detected well, before our farmer brought the land. What we now know is they missed this site hiding at the back of the land.

Only a 1.5 hour hunt:

17 scrappies
Roman Brooch
Roman Lead Steel-yard Weight
Roman Bracelet piece

This is now our 3rd new Roman Site this year, & for now it can wait until better conditions, as we know there will be plenty more to find.

Congratulations on all the nice finds Crusader

Looks like an awesome site. Bet you'll find some winners when you grid it. My deus is on the charger, let me know when you need assistance. :metaldetector: I'll hop that flight haha.

Hi, wow some nice finds you found. Congrats:icon_thumleft: I love those scrappies.

Congrats adding another new site to the list. Something we all need badly. Looks like a good start in not so good conditions!

Phenomenal results for 1,5 hours.

Its a good site, coins all over the place

Sweet finds! [emoji16][emoji106]

I love your persistence at finding places to hunt and searching for stuff others have missed. well done Sirs

So jealous! Closest I'll get to a Roman site, is roamin' around the Midwest. Congrats as usual:icon_thumright:

Terrible conditions, the effort of breaking the lumps nearly made me pass out in this sun - hence the 1.5 hours!

Thanks for sharing Crusader -- looking forward to seeing what that barley field yields once you get to it. Nice finds here in the meantime - congrats mate!

Best case scenario, we can confirm another Roman Site & add it to the list. The ground is too hard to dig, so at least confirmation, one way or the other, helps future planning.
