3x18 coil?

I have the 10x12 concentric coil. It throws the machine off balance quite a bit, but it covers ground quickly. I was thinking about getting the 3x18 for working large areas faster. My biggest concern is the weight. Does it weigh the same as the 10x12 or less?

I have the 3x18 coil and I like it very much. I have been hunting beaches with it for the last 2 months. I average 6-7 hours a hunt. I don't have the 12x10, but I plan to buy one down the road. I weighed my Silver Umax with 3x18 coil and it was just over 2 1/2 pounds.

My Vaquero 3 x 18 coil with lower rod weighs a little less than 1.25 lbs.

I bought mine from Joe Snow (fellow tnetter) earlier this month and have had the opportunity to use it twice. It is a little heavier than the standard coil that comes with the Cortez but it is still easy to swing. I was pleasantly surprised that it didnt really throw the balance of the machine off and how well it works. It was worth the money for me to purchase. If you have wide open areas that you want to check, this coil is the only way to go. TMAN...
