Here are the results of 4 days of hunting in east Tenn this past Thursday to Sunday. Finds came from 4 different sites...all are hard hit spots and you earn every find. Got 4 eagle buttons total, but 2 fell apart in my hand. Wont be any buttons 10 years from now I am afraid. Artillery coat button has a couple of threads still at the shank! My sole intact minie ended up being after cleaning my first CS Georgia troops teat base! Eyeballed in a tobacco field the base of a Archaic period corner notch arrowhead. Flat buttons are from an early site about 1810. And to finish it up a 1964 Rosie...my birth year! Happy hunting and thanks for looking!

Oh man, that's a BEAUTIFUL A! Hate to have a button crumble on me . . . but you're right. Their lifespan is finite. And fertilizer speeds up the decomp. Again, BEAUTIFUL "A" man - congrats!

Thanks friend....I am surprised at its condition as it came from a tobacco field. Pure luck on it...1" down in a pounded for 20+ year site....plow brought it up

Bill, you had some good outings. Georgia teat base bullet is a great find & a nice gilded eagle "A" button. HH, Q.

Thanks Quindy! Congrats on that Rifleman button. Friend of mine dug one at a site we were hunting in east Tenn this spring, and it crumbled in his hand...really heartbreaking to watch an R disintegrate
