4 down 2 more to go...finished & on display pics added

This is not a easy task, trying to redo Riker cases, to glue gun down fabric over cut down card board, then turn around and using a water soluble glue, glue down artifacts. Then I can't even get good pics...I think it's best to take the glass top off. Anyway, here's my finds all set ready to put on display at the local library. I will finish the other 2 cases later. I'm tired.

;) RR

This case's collection found by FIL and husband 1963-late 1990's in
the garden plot next to the river.

Found by me in 2006, in back river pasture and the area next to the garden plot.

Found 2007, at another river location, more pottery pieces there too.

Super Finds,RR
YOU ALL have some big points down south.I was going to have some of mine displayed at the local museum but they would not insure them so they stay at home. You have a nice collection. Jeff

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

Let me just say that it's nice to see the broken stuff displayed with the "good stuff" because I think that much can be learned from those as well and all too often they get neglected. Very nice display, glad you posted and glad that you can share with the public, keep up the good work!

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

Wow! Very Nice! I didn't know you've found so much. :o I guess you really are a river rat. 8)

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

'You dun good girl', the brown flint must have been
traded to McCurtain Co OK, they have almost the same color
there, or the 'quarry' was somewhere in between the areas.
We have more of a mix of colors, the Ozarks have more grey, & white, it seems.

River Rat! Great collection!

OMG... the library had better appreciate your efforts!

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

I'm proud of you for doing this great deed of sharing history. Someday I will donate mine, when the time is right. Nice job on the displays!

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

Afternoon,

Display looks great RR. I knew you could do it.

Country Girl....a suggestion.....don't donate your collection anywhere. Find someone who genuinely loves doing what we do and give or sell cheaply to them your stuff.

Too many time I see what happens to 'donated' collections. You think a school or museum will keep it, but many times it goes into someones personal collection or is sold out the back door. ;)

When I dispose of mine, if at that time it is still legal to own...which I doubt, I will probably farm it out to several of my collector friends who I know will truly appreciate it.

Really nice display!!Takes alot to part with ANY points much less that many.Congrats on the finds and the good gesture.I think I'm going to bury mine before I die, then 1,2,or 3,000 years from now the Alien Anthropologists' will be scratching their heads when they find them, wondering why these strange stones spell "NATE" ;D HH!!GL!!

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

Wow! Nice collection River Rat! It is indeed a painstaking process putting a frame together, but it is worth it in the end. I like seeing broken points displayed as well (Especially since I have so many broken ones! ;D). Is the library borrowing your artifacts for a length of time or are you donating them? It would be pretty cool having displays of local artifacts set up so that everyone can see them. I find that most people have absolutely no clue about indian artifacts.

Again, very nice collection!

Brian

Re: 4 down 2 more to go

Thanks for all the comments. For those of you who don't know, all these artifacts came off my property, except for the smallest case, found on another river not far from my location.
2 cases (not all pictured) were found by FIL and husband during the years 1963-late 1990's in a garden plot near the river. All the rest found by me in 2006-present. They're on loan for display only for 2 months; Oct 1-Dec 1.

Re: 4 down 2 more to go...finished & on display pics added

Thanks for y'all comments. I've received many comments about my library display. One individual wanted to know where I found them, and wanted to come hunt for some. I told him it's private property...only to be hunted my me. But, I did give him some good suggestions on where to look, but make sure that he got permission 1st. I can't wait for cooler weather, I'm scouting! ;D

River - again - those came out awesome!

You're very kind to share them with the library like that I think. :)

It'll keep the fire alive in some young kid...

Nicely done!

Great display of Arrow Heads. I agree with Jim. It's nice of you to share your finds.
