I rescued these coins from a Grocery store coin star yesterday.
Besides American coins there were 2-1 URN Thailand coins and 1 Italian 20 Euro coin in the bunch.
Could these 4 be Hammered?
Could they have been purchased as a replicas?
I cleaned them by leaving in cooking oil for a few hours and then used a soft toothbrush followed by soap and water by hand.
I always look at the posts here that involve hammered coins but i cant remember seeing anything like them.
I hope the pictures are easy to follow.
Any help to confirm there origin and Authenticity would be awesome.
Thanks in advance,

I used to give those to my son when he was little - they are legit but you can buy bags of those from coin mags -
millions were found "over there" middle east area and Med. area

Agreed.
They look legit to me.

Never have I found anything in the reject trays of the green machines, the population #s most be the reason. Your save from the machine is a first that's for sure!

is the bust in picture #2 and #7 the same coin or do you have two of the same type?

They are real Roman Coins & although they are hammered, its not a term usually associated with these series of coins. 'Hammered' being a generic term for later Medieval types.

These are definitely real. Top left is a Valentinian I struck in Thessalonica, bottom left is Gallienus, top right actually looks like Carausius which would be awesome since that is actually a rare emperor, and bottom right is Constantius II or Constantius Gallus which looks like Cyzicus mint (I see a "K" but it could be Heraclea or Nicomedia too.) Congratulations!

Good to Know, hope I remember that.
Really I'm not Joking ,I just want to know it all, Until I get Real old.

Nice score but sad that a deceased Father's or Grandfather's coin collection likely went to a CoinStar!

A Question

I have had many "Scores" from Coin Star Machines .
BUT
The Smaller type Machines @ Publix ( you know ,the type that makes you scared to stick your hand down into). Never has any Rejects. Why? Or Where Should I look.?

Sweet, I found a Roman coin on a dirt road in Mosul, Iraq in 2006. Yours are in much better shape. I check the coin stars also, found silver in the Cary walmart one last year but that was about it.

Congrats!! Maybe the owner thought they were fake?

some people are just hard up for money ya know?lol great snatches!

Crusader, i will have to do some more research on the term later medieval types.

Just look at a few of my recent posts, I've had quite a few 'hammered'. (thin silver coins)
Cru'dads IDs:
1) AE3 VALENTINIAN I Dragging Captive Thessalonica Mint (TES) 367-375 AD
2) Antoninianus GALLIENUS and 3) another unknown Antoninianus AD 255-275
4) Probably a CONSTANTIUS II AE3 with Emperor on boat steered by Helmsman AD347-355

This reminds me of an incident last Christmas.
Me and my wife usually save up all our small change over the year and cash it all in around Christmas using our local coinstar machine.
Last year after loading all the coins through we checked the reject tray and there amongst the foreign coins were a few roman scrappies:tongue3:
Turns out my 4 year old son had decided to add to the coin pot and had thrown in a few of the not so valuable Roman coins that I let him play with.
Great score for you though and a bit of a surprise for sure.

George...
