40% halves

i have yet another question like i said i am new to all this so i am learning i read in one of the posts that some of the 1976 bicentineals are 40% silver from what i have seen i know that the s mintmarks from 1976 were 40 % but what about the ones wit a d mintmark and the ones with no mintmarks

Not all 1976S are Silver some are clad the d mint marks and plain are clad

thanks for clearing that up for me i got $ 80.00 in halves today the first i have gotten. i got skunked but i think they had already been searched all the wrappers were the same and had the same color marker scribled on the outside of them but its all good i loved the look i got from the girl at walmart when i handed her 4 rolls of halves then at lowes the woman i paid her with three rolls and she put them in her purse and put thirty in her drawer she said she had 3 kids and she had never seen rolls of halves so she was going to take them home to her kids so at least i know i wont have to research those three rolls lol

There were some 40% silver halves minted with no mint mark (4,000,000 according to my Red Book).

I try not to spend my halves because I always think that someone that gets them might look them to see if they are worth anything then find out about silver halves. Then all would be lost because I might end up with another coin roll searched.

Then again,when people get them they usually keep them, which takes them out of circulation...
