Went to a very old location...1st time for me .

Needless to say i was very busy digging.....musket balls and bullets everywhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the site dates back to 1700s

Was only there a few minutes and came acroos the 2 items about 10 feet apart .... the bottom pictures.

Pretty sure they are made of pewter.... and the inset diamonds ??? have me possibly excited or are they fake ?

And what are they ???? Are they old....and if they are ..did they make fake diamonds back then ?? They sure look old. !!!!

They are the same at the tops --but they do not match at the bottoms..obviously from the same thing or set.

TY Treble....

Was hoping someone would know what it might be.... looks very old.

I,m itching to know what it might be.... somebody must have an idea.

Awesome collection of artifacts , good luck getting an I.D ..cheers Mick

Congrats cool finds! They kinda look Polynesian but I'm guessing.

Normally items made of that type of metal are toys from the early 1900s or just before, the 'stones' are cut glass or paste.

That wouldn,t surprise me at all..... but always nice to dream bigger .!!!

I'd agree with CRUSADER. for the most part it is very rare to expect diamonds in a lead or pewter setting, and quite rare for even silver to be a setting for diamonds. If you got a gold setting then your chances improve dramatically.

Sarry to be a downer, that said you had a great winter hunt...how many musket balls ? that was at least as many as I found all last year.

Glad you got out as that is the most important thing...and enjoying ones self. Great hunt Aqua, Keep it up.
Good Luck out there.

TY RICK--

Well it was exciting for a bit...but i would still like to know exactly what it is.

Prolly the most fun I ever had at a hobby.

Just never know whats gonna pop outta the ground.!!!!

Those are quite interesting little pieces Aqua. I don't have a clew as to what they would be but they clearly are part to a set. Nice to see you were able to get out today, the weather wasn't too bad at all.

TY ....ZDD.

Yes they are obviously from a set of sorts....very interesting.

I put them in the WHAT IS IT forum but no bites yet. Would love to know what they are exactly.

Yes was a very nice day--lil bit of wind but decent day...was nice to get out....told Rick that you guys should come down one day this winter for a hunt

Great finds, Aqua. Is the patina on your musket balls typical for ones found in saltwater? All mine have a very white patina, but they were found in fields. Hope you get a good ID on your " special" pieces. I like that little buckle btw.

yes... same for me---- on land they are covered in a thick white powder.

in the saltwater they come out very dark grey/black....gotta be the soil.

rick said he might order up a CZ and i assume u already got a saltwater machine--- we could hit the beach and see what we find.

Top right piece with the hook is a cloak clasp. It might have what will look like flat button shanks braised onto the other side of it so that it could be sewn into the cloak.
