The US did not pay Spain $5 million dollars for Florida.
The Adams-Onis Treaty which delivered Florida to the US had the US pay US citizens for the their claims against Spain which amount to about $5 Million dollars.
The US mint at New Orleans was established in 1838, 18 years after the US acquired Florida.

A great state to search for single coins, jewel, and for buried and sunken treasures. Good hunting and good luck.
