I don't disagree with the video. But! It has a brief glimpse of how a metal detector shouldn't be used! Far too many detectorists (typically neophytes) haven't gotten the sweep routine down pat. One thing Charles Garrett was known for, was teaching neophytes how to swing the coil. It isn't difficult to learn to keep the coil flat to the ground without tilting it up at an angle at the apexes of the sweep. Yet, you see it almost universally in on-line videos like this one. I won't mention his name, but one influencer on YouTube actually has a video which demonstrates the "correct way" incorrectly! Is there no shame?!

You are absolutely on point regarding videos of detecting and pendulum swinging. I do a Sam Kinnison on the inside when I see it.

It's like watching people who don't know how to use chopsticks, that think that they do.
