I don't usually make suggestions like this on the CRH forum but figured everyone here might appreciate the tip. The last time I suggested something like this was the Lincoln Commemorative set which sold out in a day and immediately doubled in value. Here is another suggestion...

If you are lucky enough to be around the Springfield IL area tomorrow morning the America The Beautiful 5 Oz. coin set is available at The Gold Center - Springfield, IL (217) 793-8002 for around $900 for the five coin set. They are selling 3000 and only on location. This bullion coin set has been a complete cluster**** release from the US Mint. APMEX tried to sell 1000 sets for $1395 in December and sold out in a couple days. The US Mint stepped in and stopped all sales as it broke the distribution rules. A set just sold on ebay for $5000...The US Mint has set a one set limit per customer and considers these bullion coins so limits the mark-up by distributors but with this kind of profit potential all kinds of shinanagins are happening. I am hoping to get a set via APMEX when they sell their allotment but am not holding my breath...so if you happen to be within a couple hours of Springfield and want to make a road trip that will be worth your while I would suggest it post haste! Oh yea, you might want to flip it fast too!

Good suggestion! HSN was able to get 210 sets and they are offering them for almost $5000 each! ???

I've tried everywhere to get these sets. I too have an order in with APMEX. We'll see how that goes when the time comes. Hopefully soon they will release their inventory.

the price is right at about $900. The mint said they are allowing a 10% increase form the purchase price by the sellers, which in this case is about 5 OZ X $32 or $160 per coin, plus 10% is $176 per coin. times 5 is $880. So $900 is about right. It depends on the actual price they paid to the mint to buy. I don't know when they set the price, and with the fluctuations it should be "around" $880 - $910 for a full set.

I'm going to call them, but i doubt they do phone orders.

Shame because I have an uncle that lives in Springfield, IL. Unfortunately, we don't talk to that side of the family.

Just as a thought before some one jumps in a car and drives to Springfield to take part in this Silver Rush.

Call ahead and confirm availability, price and location beforehand.

I've read a few things on the internet saying that all of the sets in Springfield are sold out and are no longer available for sale. There are many conflicting reports on this subject.

I hate to sound like I'm trying to rain on a parade, or be the lone naysayer in a crowd of optimists. I've been weighing a trip to Springfield myself...and who wouldn't, when you could easily double your money and then some on ebay within 24 hours.

My advice?

Use the telephone BEFORE high-tailing it to the middle of Springfield.

eBay has one for $2450 "Buy it Now". Very tempting........... But it is almost $500 for a $200 coin...
