I posted this in the Native American section to try and ID it. Now that I know what it is I'll post it here. Found this on the NY PA border and had an archeologist and 2 of her colleagues look at it. She said it is a copper celt that dates to 5000BC and maybe even older. An extremely rare find especially in my area! She believes it is made from Lake Superior copper.

Im definitely going to have my eyes on the ground from now on every time I'm detecting a farm field!

Thanks for the help and advice! I was clueless and was going to give it to them. As I was leaving the one lady says PLEASE DONT SELL IT haha

Great find!!! Most of the Native American copper that I have seen come from Pennsylvania. It has even been found in Florida.

This copper coin (only a few hundred years old) and found on the treasure coast,subjected to saltwater wasn't so lucky.008.webp

Congrats on the Copper Celt Axe it's a rare find and it just doesn't get much older. Great recovery-pure top shelf in so many ways.
