22 lbs sounds like allot though.

Gold price from 1840 til 1932 was $22.67
$1 in 1901, adjusted for inflation would be $30.23 in 2020.
Gold is worth $1583 this morning.
22 lbs would be worth about $475,000. ( multiplied by 4 to 6 for historic value)
That would make a nice day's work...
 

How do you find all these cool old articles? I've noticed you come up with them from papers all over the USA, even my home state of Minnesota!
