I heard about that one. Is it the same one that was offered to the CA Mineral Museum? Was wondering as the ladies their said it just didn't look right. They feared it was made from the stolen gold heist their. Needless to say the museum passed on the deal. Looks natural in the photo so probably not the same one.

I think I pee'd a little when I saw that photo.

Goes to show there are still big nuggets just waiting to be found :icon_thumleft:

ah, the one found near Magalia, saw pics of it before.

ever heard of the "Washington Nugget"? aka "the Orange Roughy"....

wish I had a camera with me about 2 1/2 years ago....a miner known in parts of Sierra/Nevada counties showed a specimen he found, looked like honey-combed lava rock, but it was gold...he was using hydrofluoric on it, the quartz was powdering off, but he estimated a troy lb. in the piece. I got to hold it for a minute, my hands are still tingling....

If I had a "pet" rock that one would do just fine. Might need suspenders!

$400K? For 6 pounds?? Why, that's highway robbery! That's only $5,555.56 per oz!! :laughing7: (too bad they don't have a "slobbering" emoticon)
