$6 Million Rare coin recovered

Yeah, saw that yesterday. Made me mad because du Pont's team immediately jumped on it even though I think it's actually one I lost on the way to the county fair last fall. Yeah, that's it, the county fair! Tell 'em they're wrong, it's mine! Lost four 1913 v or buff nickels once too, for sure... I think I'm pretty sure.

Anybody seen a picture of this coin yet?

Hey Labrat, they got a pic on one of the numismatic sites. Gotta go looking for it again myself.

No problem. Thank Labrat, he sent it to me. Also, there is a great story about a large cache of Gold coins found in the wall of a home on Fire Island on the PCGS website, either www.PCGS.com or www.coinuniverse.com. I read about it a while ago, so it may be hard to locate on there now. This is a coin site, you have to go to their section that says "message boards". In there they have a small metal detecting forum. Not sure how it all works since it seems like they don't always leave up older stuff. But there may be some new info on this hoard of really nice gold coins in Coinworld in the future. This guy is still looking to do some more excavation inside the walls of his house as he is still getting signals that there is still stuff in the walls. He is in the process of getting alot of it graded. ALl of these coins are in excellent high quality condition with many rare ones (according to him).

Just went to the site. Just type in "fire Island" in the "search" function and you can read the whole thread.

Sweeeeeeeeet coinshooter! I just hope me, you, Chiz, Beekrock, treasureldy, MDnoob, and other folks find more with our White's than Fool's GOLD!!!

Did some more "research" on the Fire Island Hoard. It appears to be another internet hoax. >:(
The internet is a great place to B.S. people who want to believe. At least this doens't really hurt anyone as much as it just entertains them.

'Reading is believing!' Not!!! Caveat Emptor.

What happened? I couldn't read the article.

Ya I mean c'mon ,,,, What did really happen,,,,? ?what is the statute on stolen property, I mean after a certain amount of time , like a crime , (unless m*rder) has a statute of limitations,..... Why does the duponts ,, one of the richest family's in the world get the item back???? whatever its value? if my coin was stolen that long ago, the insurance coverage alone & time alone should have covered the value right??? & if the guy is dead that he got the coin from as collateral on a loan, then why isn't it the property of the current owner, ???? I mean he lost money too on the loan right???

IF......IF....this is real and not some late April fools joke, the parties will have a field day in court. Some insurance company will come out of the woodwork looking to be repaid by the original owner/claimant for the loss payout. If this is a hoax, the truth will out.
